Sarjakuvamatka Belgiaan esittelee maan kiinnostavimpien sarjakuvataiteilijoiden tulkintoja Belgiasta Galleria Sarjakuvakeskuksessa 8.-29.10.2020 Belgia tunnetaan kuuluisista kaupungeistaan, monumenteistaan ja kulttuuritraditioistaan. Maa on erityisen ansioitunut “yhdeksännen taiteen” saralla. “Sarjakuvamatka Belgiaan” näyttelyssä ansioituneet sarjakuvataiteilijat, kuten Franquin, Tibet, Servais, Merho ja Jef Nys tutkivat sarjakuvien avulla omaa kansallista perinnettään Vallonian, Flanderin ja Brysselin alueilta. Näyttely asettaa rinnakkain valokuvia kuuluisista belgialaisista nähtävyyksistä sekä kyseiseen paikkaan sijoittuvan sarjakuvan. Tutkimalla valokuvaa ja sarjakuvaa rinnakkain aukenee Belgian kuuluisista nähtävyyksistä, kuten Atomium-monumentista, Grand Place:n aukiosta, Ardennien ylängöistä sekä Bruggen ja Antwerpin kaltaisista kaupungeista uusia ja yllättäviäkin näkökulmia. Näyttelyn on tuottanut Belgian sarjakuvakeskus ja Suomeen sen tuo Belgian suurlähetystö. Tervetuloa tutustumaan sarjakuvan pieneen suurmaahan Sarjakuvakeskukseen 8.-29.10.2020!

A comic strip tour of Belgium showcases different interpretations of Belgium by the country’s most interesting comic strip authors at Galleria Sarjakuvakeskus 08.-29.10.2020 Belgium is known throughout the world for its famous cities and monuments, its landscape and cultural traditions. It is particularly renowned for its comic strips which are loved by young and old alike. As a country of the “9th art”, with its bounty of comic strip publishers, illustrators and scriptwriters, Belgium has naturally inspired the authors. Through their work several generations of writers and illustrators – Franquin, Tibet, Servais, Merho and Jef Nys – have paid tribute to their country of origin, each one laying claim to part of its heritage. Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels feature in the colourful images of original stories. Romantic Bruges, Malines and its cathedral, the Ardennes, the cities of Binche or Namur are all exquisitely represented by extremely talented authors. Brussels, the proud multicultural capital, shines forth with its Atomium, Grand Place imposing Palais de justice and European Parliament building. The examples in the exhibition “A comic strip tour of Belgium” demonstrate the dynamic of the Belgian writers and the evolution of a constantly changing art. From the original classic albums to more recent publications, we can appreciate the diversity of eras and genres and also the abundance of each of the country’s three regions.
